The Fullness of Life

Carl Jung wrote, 'Only the paradox comes anywhere near to comprehending the fullness of life.'  As our yoga ripens with time, our relationship with the practice becomes more subtle, and its teachings increasingly nuanced.  This two night retreat is an immersion into nature, where, in the absence of our bustling city lives, we can simultaneously explore the deep inner landscape of our being and the vast outer landscape of the natural world.  In addition to experiencing wholesome food, fresh water swims and scenic hiking, our yogic practice will explore the paradoxical wisdom revealed when we courageously traverse the inner landscape. In providing a loving attention to both the outer and inner,  we embrace the fullness of life.

Edge States (Friday Night)

When two ecosystems overlap, you will encounter species from both ecosystems, as well as flora and fauna that don’t exist in either ecosystem, but are specifically adapted to the conditions of the transition zone between the two edges. In this practice, we will explore the tools needed for a resilient and wise exploration of our intelligent edges in body and spirit.

Liminal Spaces (Saturday Morning)

The word liminal comes from the Latin root, limen, meaning “threshold.” This waiting space, often wildly uncomfortable, is a space of transition.  Through our yoga practice, we can use this time to let go of an old way of being and embody a new reality.  In this practice, our asana will explore creative and slow transitions as we feel into the teachings of life’s metaphysical and inevitable transitions.

Gong Medicine with Angela Blueskies (Saturday Evening)

Of all the instruments used in sound healing, the Gong is perhaps the most powerful, and the most mysterious. Used in ancient Chinese palaces and temples, and also in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga, Gong Medicine Journeys, also called Gong Baths, are deeply nourishing and restorative. The parasympathetic nervous system is engaged and a deep energetic clearing occurs, leaving participants feeling balanced, peaceful, and light. Born in the gentle mountains of Appalachia, Angela Blueskies is a visionary musician, medicine woman, and facilitator who carries deep understanding of the healing powers of music and the Earth.

Strength & Softness (Sunday Morning)

With compassion being at the heart of our practice, it is all too easy to frame conflict in the false dichotomy that we must either choose to break others or be broken ourselves.  This practice is an exploration of radical compassion to affect long term change, and how we can use strength and softness as energies that coexist rather than compete.  This integrative practice is a balance of strong core work, soft forward bends, and a heart centered meditation.
